I love snacking, so I’m always looking for new snack options to get me through the day. Healthy snacks can tend to get boring after awhile if you don’t switch it up.. Recently, I’ve discovered a few new snack options that I’m LOVING. Keep reading to see what they are…

  1. BANANA CHIPS- These are addicting… I have to stop my self from eating these or else I could easily eat a whole bag! I love banana chips they are such a great snack to take with you on the go or to watch a movie with! My favorite ones are from Aldi, they only contain a few ingredients and don’t have loads of sugar in them like some do.
  2. Garden Tomato W/ crumbled goat cheese & balsamic glaze- This snack is super easy to make and is great for after lunch. All you’ll need is:
    • 1 large sliced tomato

Top it off with some parsley and S&P and your going to be in heaven..

Combine those two together and you have the ultimate delicious healthy snack! There’s only 30 Calories in 2T of Tzatziki! Try it! It’s great.
  5. Raw chocolate & peanut butter energy bites- Raw energy bites ares something I just started to get into. I really appreciate how simple they are to make and how easy they are for on the go. Hair Essentials~

Establishing a good hair routine isn’t very easy… There are so many different hair products on the market today that pose to do so many great things for your hair, it’s not an easy decision. Since it’s hard to choose… I’ve fallen into the trap of going to the salon, buying the shampoo they use on my hair (which is usually a really small bottle that’s super expensive..),end up loving it and then run out of it and don’t want to fork up another $60 for a small bottle… I’ve  done that more than once… What I’ve learned to do is only  splurge on higher end styling products, since they typically last longer than shampoo and conditioner and aren’t as expensive. For shampoo and conditioner I’ve learned for my hair they don’t need to be high end, the simpler the better. Here are some of my favorites that I swear by!

The Aveeno Active Naturals line is AMAZING. I’ve been using this for the past 3 years and it truly is my most loved shampoo and conditioner. The line uses Wheat protein to help restore your hairs natural beauty. I have naturally straight/thin hair that needs to be washed every day. My hair tends to get greasy easily with certain products but the Aveeno line has never made my hair more balanced. The nourish and moisturize shampoo is geared towards more dryer hair types but I use it anyway! It makes my hair feel super light and gives it a glossy shine. I only use the conditioner on my ends since they tend to get a little dry.

The Bumble and Bumble Thickening Mousse is such a holy grail product! It does retail for a good amount more than most mousse’s, but its so worth it. I could never use mousse before I tried this one because it would weigh my hair down. For girls with thin hair like me please try this out! Put it in damp hair, roots to ends and then blow dry. It gives a great lift at the roots, it’s not  greasy, sticky or thick. Its perfect. I don’t think you could ever over do it with this product! People always compliment me when I use this because it smells SO GOOD.

Lastly is the Davines OI Oil. I don’t think I could live without it. It’s a beautifying potion that helps tame thicker/ dryer hair types, and can also be used as a finishing oil. I use it as a finishing oil, I use 1 pump midway to ends. It gives such a beautiful shine, tames flyaways, and makes your hair super soft. I have the 50ml bottle and its lasted me since December 2015! And I have long hair, but a little goes a long way. It also smells absolutely beautiful…It’s a must have!

Go to Breakfast

These last 3 weeks I’ve been loving Acai bowls for breakfast! I ran across the frozen Sambazon Acai packets at Market Basket and had to get them! Before than I’d only seen pictures of Acai bowls on Instagram and always thought that they looked amazing. I decided to try it out and make my own and there’s no going back now… I’m ADDICTED. I have one every day for breakfast. I love how there’s no right or wrong way to make them, you can put anything you want in them so they never get boring! The best part about them  is they actually give you energy, which I direly need because I am not a morning person! Today I thought I’d share how I make mine on the regular. Please try it out! You seriously will not be disappointed!

What you’ll need for Acai Mixture:

Throw all of that into a blender until it thickens and becomes smooth. Then pour it into your bowl!

What you’ll need for toppings:

  • 2 cut strawberries
  • 1/4 banana
  • sprinkle of flax seed
  • sprinkle of cacao nibs
  • sprinkle of coconut
  • Mix PB powder with some water to make PB

This is what I use for my bowls, but I usually also do blueberries! Some other suggestions you can add in and on top are protein powder, maca powder, granola, mango, goji berries and chia seeds. You can throw what ever you want in them! They are filled with antioxidants and are super good for you. It really kick starts my day. I get a lot of my ingredients like the cocoa nibs and flax seed at TJMaxx, they are much more affordable and you get a lot. Even though I eat them for breakfast they are also a great snack as well, I can eat them any time of the day!

February Beauty Favorites

I want to share a few beauty bits and bobs that I’ve really been enjoying this month! I love all things beauty and can honestly spend endless hours in the cosmetics section in target or browsing sephora online.. It’s one of my guilty pleasures. Here are some of my favorites from this month!

For the longest time now I’ve been struggling trying to find the perfect foundation for my skin type. Over the past few years my skin has changed and its been hard for me to find a good foundation that suits all of my skins needs. I have combination-sensitive skin, it depends on the day what my skin decides to be… But for the most part I’m more oily with dry patches around my nose and forehead. It’s honestly really hard to try to find a base that’s matte and holds up to oily skin whilst being somewhat moisturizing. I’ve used an array  of luxury products and they even didn’t cut it. Recently I’ve found the PERFECT base for me. It does everything I need it to do- moisturizing, matte, doesn’t break me out, medium coverage, long wearing, perfect color match, affordable. Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless is what I’ve been using. I’m in the shade 110 Porcelain and I like to pair it with the L’Oreal magic perfecting base for a really nice, smooth base and I apply it with a beauty blender for a seamless application. 10 out of 10!!!

Yesterday was Garrett’s birthday and he actually got ME this sephora birthday gift! Haha. But this tarte set is amazing!! The Tarte Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in the shade “Paaarty” is such a beautiful color. Its a subtle pink and makes you look like you have a natural flush to your cheeks! The Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in the shade “birthday suite” is equally as amazing. This color seemed to really enhance my natural lip color and made them look a lot fuller and plump. It’s not drying and is tastes like peppermint! I really recommend this set together if you like a soft natural look that enhances your own natural beauty.

My Aunt really turned me on to natural soaps. We get our soaps from a local store called Rocky Corner Soapworks. These handmade soaps are so much better for your skin than store bought soaps. They are made with out all of the harmful chemicals, fillers and detergents that most store bought soaps contain. Most of these soaps are 100% Vegan but a few have beeswax in them. They are cold processed soaps made with palm, coconut, and olive oil sourced from the Mediterranean. The best part about them is they smell SO GOOD! My favorite is the Lilac with blueberry seeds its 100% heavenly! Some of them contain natural exfoliates like sand and oatmeal which I love. I enjoy using them in the shower all over my body, it makes my skin feels so clean and it makes me feel good that what I’m using is actually beneficial to my skin. And…. did I mention the smell! They are really fun.

Lastly, I wanted to share with you Lavett&Chins original sea salt texturizing mist. I’ve been loving doing braids in my hair and then taking them out and putting a few spritz’s of this in. It lasts all day and it gives you a nice beachy wave to your hair. It also smells super good too!
